    Default I need your help.

I am finding this puzzle both fascinating and frustrating. One minute I think this puzzle will be solved one way, and the next another.

One thing that I don't know is, were from the landmark is the key located. Any thoughts?

    Thanks, MW

Guess that depends on which landmark?

I feel guilty -- I haven't touched Whistle Pig for what seems like forever. I got sucked into Dar again, and have no way to travel anywhere even if something were right under my nose. (Gas money and fine chocolate is not enough of a bribe for my faithless friends . . . who'dve thought Godiva had its limits?)
I originally wanted to do "Where it all went wrong", but 5 days later, this topic nicely dove-tailed . . .

    Default Which landmark?

The author has promised us a landmark like the large palm tree
W in "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World".

I think the clues in the book should get you close to the landmark,
but then what? Do you dig or travel 22 miles away?

    Just curious on everyones thoughts.

    Thanks, MW

Maybe the landmark comes with instructions that wouldn't make sense to anyone else except someone playing the game? Perhaps a small, engraved piece of granite -- not a tombstone -- that was made specially for the game? Perhaps a homage to Masquerade: Find the shadow at X time?

find the shadow at X time
It is obvious this here is no Wilbur (or ordinary pig) so I believe that this is the right track, a good train of thought. This shadow must have to be cast to see (and how does it reveal a key?) yet you could look at the figure or figure(s), buildings, trees, or whatever and not be able to directly notice that they would produce this outline/shadow.

Good stuff. And, if you got something and can't get there or go there, I'm always up for the adventure. Domino is a PM away. Haha...no, I don't deliver..well sometimes.

If I remember correctly, Miller said we'd know it when we found it. I'm going with that one and keeping an open mind.

Could be a shadow cast on the Winter Solstice? This occurs in December on the 21 or 22. These are significant numbers that are mentioed more than a few times in the book. Shadow of what, though. Shed some light, please.

Default Sorry for the false alarm.

I was zeroing in on a landmark and was ready to buy some plane tickets, when I realized that this landmark was not in place when the book was published.

So now it is back to trying to discover the last clue or two to narrow down where the key is located.

I appreciate the help on this. I always thought that the key should be buried because of the groundhog theme. However, the author always said that the key was hidden (Pg xi), and did not say buried. Also, the ground probably was frozen on 2/2/03 at the location I am looking at. Now I am thinking the key is in the vicinity of Cork's bridge, but will wait until I have all the clues to investigate.

    Any thoughts, thanks-MW

    Default Groundhog Day

Could the key have anything to do with Groundhog Day?

Also, check this out: Punxsutawney Phil.

I don't live in PA, but this might help those who think the key is there. If anyone finds the key, please let me know - I find this puzzle intriguing.
