I think I have a solution and have been trying to find it the whistle pig is still active. I have tried to contact Duck Miller but have not had any luck.
The first hint for my solution
The year of places
1st place - chapter 2
From the description, there is a black star on a calendar of 31 days. The black star indicates a capital. So we look for a state capital on 31, which is Indianapolis, IN. Which is located on US31.
2nd Place - Chapter 3
Two dogs from the same litter, but they do not look alike. Also baseball.
The dogs are twins, but not identical, baseball team. The Twin Cities, Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN.
I like where this is going. Does it set up a triangulation or mutli location situation where you draw lines to see where they intersect? The thing is, trying to find a key involves a percise location and clues to get to that spot on foot. This is where the book has eluded me in revealing something tangible, not contrived from the words in any section based on my own twisted mind.
Thanks for sharing.
"Bare the cross"
Chapters 2 thru 5 reveal the 4 cities that create what I call the major cross. This identifies a state if I am correct. Chapters 7 thru 10 reveal the 4 cities within that state to refine the position.
Chapter 1 reveals more detail about the trail to the location
Chapter 11 reveals a clue that helps you identify the center.
This is all my opinion at this point.
I have twice been to where my solve leads, but either I am completely wrong, or I am right but just missing the final piece, or right and the pig is no longer there.
If you like where this is going, you should see my solve for Fandango and the Fenn Treasure
3rd Place - Chapter 4
Lincoln thinking on the battle of Gettysburg - Gettysburg Pennsylvania
This makes me want to dust off my copy of Whistle Pig....
4th Place - Chapter 5
Chapter 5 - WinterLand
Song "It must have been the Roses", the Rose City - Portland Oregon
That concludes the major X, which marks the state if my solution is correct.
Hello Gov'na! I'm from for Portland...maybe I should get a copy of this Pig manual.
For those of you viewing this thread, there is a website called scribblemaps that you can use to draw lines and such on maps. That is what I used to draw the X to determine the state it is in. I will wait a few days before I start posting what I have for the solutions to chapters 7,8,9,10.
