    Hello Poppets.

Just thought I'd make sure you are all keeping the flame alive!

Can I offer an apology to anyone who has ordered anything in the last 2 weeks - we've all been down with flu (not of the swine variety) - so nothing has been able to escape our portals.

I know there are some books due to go and I think there's a set of certificates - but the answers haven't been checked yet.

To clear up any doubt - The Hunt is Still On.

Much to our surprise nobody has cracked it. And we though it was so... easy!!

    Keep in touch.

    Love & kisses,

    Winnie

Hi Winnie! Sorry to hear you are suffering with flu at TWT Towers. Hope you all feel better soon!

I am still keeping the flame alive, though mine is sputtering it has to be said - I fear that solving it may be beyond me! Still, I'll wait and see if I've got the Bronze & Silvers right at least. I may post my musings here and at Q4T afterwards, see if they help anyone... I'll keep my powder dry just for now.

    Are you reading Winnie?

I entered my bronze and silver answers a few weeks ago but haven't heard anything yet. Might have had one or two wrong but I was hoping to hear something so I know where I stand. Have they gone missing or do you have a backlog?

The Gold puzzle is excellent but I'm very frustrated at the moment. About a month ago I managed to put together several of the clues and found the red herring that you mentioned on the forum. It was a very exciting moment. Sadly, since then I have spent almost every waking moment trying to work out where to go next, with zero success. Oh well, I better keep trying.... there's still several of the clues in the poem that I haven't managed to "tie in" yet.

I am in the same boat for the Bronze & Silvers, Xodiak - entered a couple of months back but not heard anything yet. I've tried emailing but without success - maybe my emails are being blocked somewhere. You could try dropping them an email to enquiries%winchestertreasure.co.uk (change the % for a @), and see if you have more success.

I'm green with envy that you've found the elusive red-herring proper - I really hope you can go on to solve it!

    All the best,

    Passepartout

    Hi Passepartout,

I'll try enquiries@... as you suggest. I have already tried entries@... and sales@...

I did have a response from TWT on the 21st July. Their website was not accepting bronze/silver answers so I e-mailed them. They fixed it and e-mailed me back really quickly. I submitted my answers the same day but have heard nothing since (except the automated thank you from entries@...). It's not urgent but I'm keen to know how I did in case there is something I've missed on bronze/silver that is holding me back on gold hunt.

Glad to see you are still working on this. Good luck.

Copied from my post(as Ceres on Q4T forum) of 24 April this year:

If you take the 6th letter from the start of each sentence round the oblongs, starting at S6 you get:

    S6 - R
    B6 - U
    S7 - S
    B7 - A
    S8 - D
    S9 - E
    B9 - S
    S10 - H
    B10 - I
    B11 - D

RUSADES HID Looks like it ought to be CRUSADES HID?

Been looking again and latest post there:

Kind of fits with the C being missing ie the sound you cannot hear in S6. Been trying things with the first half of the pages, with no luck. Among other things tried (C)RUSADES as a keyword.

The bird is interesting - in real pictures it points back to the Great Hall door(south one) with its beak. Not sure what it points to in the page - could be the start of the sentence round the oblong.

Now: I find the idea of three possible codes rather daunting especially as it only says 'perhaps'.

So if the place to start is S6, then that is where the message starts. Trying the first page S1 with the sixth letter of the phrase (The Gre) is E so the message might even be CRUSADES HIDE. From there, there is no follow-on via B1, S2, B2 etc

Another thought - in S6 is a window you cannot see, does this add in another letter in the first word or is it already there or it doesn't come into it at all?

    Hi Passepartout,

I've emailed them several times over the past year and sent public and private messages on both this and other forums to the organisers of this competion but have yet to receive a reply.

As I can't get the all important unique publication number which was missing from the back of my book or a response to my queries I've assumed that the hunt has been abandoned and shelved it.

I'd be very interested to hear if you do get a response to your email.

    Thanks

    Hi Writerian,

I bought a book off Amazon which did not have a code> Follow the directions in the Winchester website (or is it in the book itself?) by emailing for a specific code> They responded to mine a couple of months ago.

    good luck
