I'm a UK journalist who's written on Kit Williams' 1979 puzzle book for both The Idler and BBC radio. Now I've posted a long essay on my website telling the whole Masquerade story from beginning to end. It takes in Kit's original inspiration for the book, the puzzle's solution, the eccentric people who tried to solve it, the 'Ken Thomas' affair and Kit's eventual reunion with the hare in 2009.

This essay completes my site's trilogy of pieces on remarkable 20th Century treasure hunts. You'll also find long essays there about London's Treasure Riots and Lobby Lud.

It's purely a hobby site, which raises no income for me or anyone else, so I hope the moderators won't mind me mentioning it here. Thank you.
