    MPowers,

If this is the only sign, or at least far and away the most obvious one, well....it presents a problem.

If you had collected the letters from the centers of the crosses in the pre-determined order 'GOLDEN GATE PRYRBK CRSS SGN', judging from your pictures, I would have to say that it pinpointed the correct tree.

Why did it take the finders so long to locate the token?

I'm terrified that they anagrammed the solution, and they didn't really know to search by the 'Prayerbook Cross' sign. They simply searched around for three hours until she searched the tree by her parked car.

Amy or Tinkerbell, can you elaborate? I'm wanting to think that there's more to the solution than an anagram. Did your solution include more?

Sincerely hoping the answer is 'yes',

    Doc

From what I gather from both press releases is, they worked with colored pencils for a long time. The other press release mentions piles of papers along with the colored pencils. On one of the ATT threads, Amy's son calls her his "word-puzzle-solving Mom" (something like that).

Also I just wanted to point out that newspaper staff writers wrote these stories, not MS or ATT. That first press release (the one ATT put up on "News and Updates" when Rusful was redeemed) had a little mistake. It said Amy found out in December that there were still "a 13th and 14th token" unclaimed. 13th was Pook found in August. So in this other press release I'm still taking "final token" with a grain of salt--it was final as far as they knew.

I don't think MS personally manages all the day-to-day runnings of the ATT website--I saw an interview last year where he said he "has someone else do that now". But here's one thing I think is interesting...if you go to the "News and Updates" under "Redeemed Tokens", it says this: "As of Saturday March 11 (date is renewed every day) the Dragonfly...(etc etc) and the Rusful token have been redeemed. Happy hunting!"
Seems to me that since they take the trouble to put in a new date in that spot every single day, they would take off the "happy hunting" if the tokens were over with the Rusful token. Just my two cents worth.

    Doc,

I paid another visit to GG Park this morning. That sign for Prayerbook Cross appears to be the only one.

I would bet clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl that there's a more precise solution. When the reference to page 66 was shared, but before Golden Gate Park was announced, I tried some anagramming. I came up with Beryessa, Pescadero, Erastadero, and other possible references to parks around the Bay Area. There's also the Golden Gate National Recreation Area to consider, which covers a respectable amount of area in San Francisco and Marin Counties. I also came up with GOLDEN GATE PK, but it would have taken quite awhile to also figure out 'PRYRBK CRS SGN'.

My hunch is that the colors played a role in determining the order of the letters, and the finders figured it out. However they may have rushed to hunt, before determining the complete clue.

Hopefully we'll get the solve from ATT soon.

Yes I found it interesting in one of their interviews (it may have been the radio interview posted on ATT), that Amy said she "solved the final part" on a cell phone call from her sister while en route to the park. I wonder if this refers to confirmation of the method/anagram, or what. But there will definitely have been a method that we were supposed to use to order those 24 letters, whether it was used for the token find or not-- which of course would not matter either way, as determining the 24 letters took plenty of skill alone!

    Spiggan,

I thought that date thing you mentioned sounded weird, so I checked it out. If you look at the page source for the news and updates page, the date mentioned in that section of the page is dynamically updated based on the current date. The text Happy Hunting is static. As a former web page designer, this makes updating the page a whole lot easier, and forgetting to take the static text out is a common mistake. Or is it?

Oh, I see what you mean. Yeah, they could have forgotten to take it out. Or maybe not, hmmm.

Is it just me or do the ATT site administrators seem to be making a deliberate point of silence? As if they're not allowed to leak any info ahead of an announcement, because maybe someone else has bought the rights to feature the story in the press? On the ATT forum, there's a thread called "ATTadmin: is Clue 3 still relevant or should we move on and wait for DAR?" There were several responses from ATTadmin in this thread, but none of them had anything at all to do with that question! Other responses from ATTadmin have been straight to the point. That's kind of interesting.

I think the power of the press is greater than you think. In my field, there have been times where I have received private data analysis figure on a specific topic, but I was told to not share them publically because the sender, a higher ranking division chief at the Department of Ed was supposed to be the one to "break the news". We do not know the behind the scenes stuff, but again, I do think it is weird that that question has not been answered. If someone has an answer to one of the web clues, where do they post the answer, on the forum? If so, has the latest answers all been posted for the remaining web clues? If all have, it makes me wonder if they are holding out to sell more books to unsuspecting viewers. If that is the case, that's a pretty big turnoff for me. You can't tell me that MS didn't make his money back yet from paying for the jewels.

You have a really good point there about the power or the press. But top_jimmy, but I really don't think it is a greed issue about selling more books. MS is donating the the profits from the book to environmental charities. I think he's been shown to be very generous.

    Couple of things:

Did anyone else try to replicate the letter collection posted on the official site forum? I get different letters, and there is a typo, and there is one box that requires 2 letters, giving us a total of 25, not 24 letters.

Can someone check this please. Tell me I'm goofy if I am...

    My letters:

    N E E
    (RE) G O T
    S S A
    L D D P
G R(UI typo for UL, UI not on page) K
    C K Y R
    P R B

this gives something more like GOLDEN GATE PK RED PRYR BK CRSS
or GOLDEN GATE PK PRYER BK CRSS RD

There is probably an explicit ordering described in one of the clues (Fairies?) and not a random anagram bc this would be too abbreviated IMO.

25 letters opens up nice possibilites too...can't get away from 5x5.

Some one let me know what they find.

    Thanks,
    John
