Sherlock Holmes famously said that when you've eliminated the impossible, whatever is left, however improbable, must be the truth. Since the zucchini is not to be seen anywhere, it must be hiding in the toilet on Floor 6.

    Hello Twelevers,

Isn't the zucchini sitting on the pedestal on the 13th floor, semi-camouflaged in front of the green snake (more or less in the middle of the room)?

Hi Calvin. I believe that lump in front of the snake is a wing, not a zucchini. When I googled "flying snake," I found that there is a regular flying snake character in Dungeons & Dragons games. The snakes are famous for their love of fruit.

I hope Scott Teplin is amused by the difficulty we have interpreting some items in the illustrations, not insulted. If someone meets him at one of the book store events, though, please ask him to sketch a zucchini, just so we can be sure that his concept of a zucchini matches what we believe we are seeking.

Default From the San Francisco 5/1 event

L.S. posted this on the Unfiction website:
"I was at the SF event. For those who were there, I'm Lou, the guy who was the middle digger.

    The clue was

    F BRSJ OIIUAYT S ZT

My writing was sloppy though so perhaps someone should corroborate that.

Additionally, a woman was videotaping the whole event for a website that features neighborhood events. She said she'd put the whole thing up, and the site is Missionlocal.org."

I'm reminded of a Bazooka Joe Comic Strip I read when I was a kid. It's an old lame joke, really---a kid is bent over under a street light looking for some change he lost in a nearby alley. When asked why he isn't looking in the alley for it, he answers, "It's too dark to see in there!"

I'm looking nearby because it's too far to look in Ohio, Idaho, Connecticut, etc., especially when we don't know the first thing about the possible value of these treasures.

But also the mind plays tricks, since back there somewhere you're hoping the mile isn't counting up from the other side of the state you're searching, rather than the side you're in. And in alot of other ways, too, it's easy to find local connections to the clues in the pictures, and you have to fight that and be realistic.

Mayor, there was some question about the spacing of that clue.

I think the correct spacing is this:

    F BRSJ OIIUAYTS ZT

With all the current interest being shown in this hunt, I'm gonna try to get the powers that be to create its own category under the 'recommended' section with the categories that were mentioned earlier in this topic.

The home page of the hunt has even included a link to tweleve.

I'm going to be spending some time on the clues of the first two pages--the bowl of cereal and the book with the GLYPH on it.

    Another note--

I'm not nearly familiar enough with the illustrations as yet, but judging from the puzzles I've seen, if you can't find a ZUCCHINI, I'd be on the lookout for a ZOO + KEY + KNEE.

    Thanks for cross-posting this!

I'm not sure if it will help in the decoding process, but interestingly enough there are the same number of letters as there are digits on a clock face.

How many signings have they had, and what extra clues do we have in total?

They've had two so far, one in LA and then this one in SF. I haven't been able to find any information on the LA event, so perhaps no clue was given.
