# Thread: Chapter 9 - Whip

1. I immediately noticed that every number combo is followed by a letter.

30,B 27,E 21,E ...

So I tried just counting through the alphabet in a loop and well that did not work.

Exp. 30,B = E & 27,E = E & 21,E = Y
and in reverse it would be:

Exp. 30,B = Y & 27,E = E & 21,E = K

Either way it didn't amount to much of a read.

Still working on it though

2. Digitizer, please do help solve this puzzle. This one is driving me insane. I've concentrated on using the code as a lookup with the 10x10 grid on page 2. I've tried 48 different mappings. I even ran all my answers thru all caesar shifts and decrypto because of Domino's blasted layer cake hint.

Domino, have I told you lately how much I hate you?

But my cakes are rich and creamy! My recipes are not easily found with tricks and tools.

4. [QUOTE=rdshackleford;520240]On page 23 there is a code of numbers and letters

I don't have my book yet so I have a question. Rusty, does your post of the #'s and letters match the way they are portrayed in the book? Or are they a string? Your post shows then as being in rows.

5. The code is in that order, and in those rows. The kerning is centered, not proportional.

I would post a scan, but Domino may want to claim a copyright protection here. What do you think, Domino?

-Rusty

6. I'd rather you post re-creations. Those are so much more full of humor for an author to see.

7. @lafitte

I'm sure Rusty meant to say that the 5 rows are center justified, as shown below:

Code:
```30B27E21E51A36J42F11C11D1B2G35B2
2C15G15H23E5B41C8F33G33H33I24E48
E19F46C46D38A46H1D31C30G14E20E5
4A18E9D2C36B39D29C```
@Domino
8. Yes, that is what I meant by saying the kerning is centered. Molnar's post shows it excactly as it is in the printed book.
-Rusty
9. That's what I thought. Interesting...
10. Anybody have the first 10 letters of the word search?
