    Default A.5 - Lexifabricography

a clipping from the World News

The children of Lexionary Public School are baffling experts around the country with their astounding vocabulary.

Today the children were asked by reporters what their favourite words were. Their answers were:
PHOTORELIEF, FACTORIZE, DAISYWHEEL, LABYRINTHINE, ECHINACEA, YULETIDE, ELECTROWEAK, AIRCHECK, SLANTWISE, ARCHIPELAGO, HOMEBREW, ELECTRODE, NOISETTE, EUREKA, REARVIEW, HYPERCHARGE, EXTENDABLE, YOU’RE, YENITE, ENTRANCEWAY, CHAINDRIVE, ENIGMA, YOCTOCOULOMB, ECCLESIASTES, SINE, EKTACHROME, NAUSEATE, AFLAJ, AYES, SCRIMSHAW, HYDROXIDE, MICROBE, ESPRESSO, HEMIDOME, LUNARSCAPE, EMBRYOLOGIST.

According to one child, the secret of their amazing vocabulary is “synergistic cooperation and interdependency.”

When asked if that meant the whole class worked together, she looked surprised, and clarified: “Our coadjuvancy is contingent on adjacency.”

Readers who know what all of this means are invited to write in and let us know.

LEXIFABRICOGRAPHY - the art of desperately inventing a word to substitute for one that you can't think of right now.

The text mentions a purple highlighter. A previous puzzle, stressed out, had words circled by a purple highlighter. I wonder whether there is any connection.

i was looking at whether or not the words could be combined in groups of 3, using partial words like - hemiDOME + ARCHipelago = ENTRANCEWAY

Corgi, I think three is key here. When they interview the girl girl she uses synergistic, cooperation, and interdependency all at once, which from a broad perspective are all in the ballpark as synonyms. The same goes for coadjuvancy, contingent and adjacency, again with a very broad and liberal definiton.

Additionally, the title is sort of made up of three words.

Perhaps it is combinging 2 or 3 of the words in some way. There are 36 words so either is a possibility.

    My current working theory:

There seem to be 12 words (with a modesnt bit of hemming and hawing) that can be mde into 2 indivdual words. Would those 12 words be combined with 2 of the unbreakable words into something like lexifabricography?

    The 12 words:

    First the Locks:

Photorelief, Daisywheel, Yuletide, Aircheck, Slantwise, Homebrew, Rearview, Entranceway, Chaindrive, and Lunarscape. (10 total)

That means we need 2 from the following (Listed with their flaws):

Electroweak - Not sure Electro is a word, seems more of a prefix.
Hypercharge - Same complaint with Hyper. (although hyper by now may be an acceptable word on its own)
You're - I think this is the most likely to be usuable in the form You Are.
Ektachrome - Ekta seems to be only a prefix for sure, so a very weak candidate.
Scrimshaw - Scrim is a word on its own, but Shaw to my ear is only a name.
Hemidome - Another very weak candidate as aside from car commercials, Hemi is only a prefix to me.

So the 2 I would go with are You're and Hypercharge

Grr, just noticed one of my locks is not a lock: Lunarscape. I would now add Eletrocharge to probables and drop lunarscape off the map.

Shaw can be a word, according to my dictionary, but it's a bit ancient.
also, my dictionary does list scape as a word
