Default Jan 20th Clue Solution Posted on MS Forum

I know this was figured out here long ago, (nice job, Destructo!) but here is the official word that Mike Stadther posted on his forum today:

"The Solution to the January 20th, 2004 Clue:

    Hint: Tackle repositorys.

    Solution:

The first step to solve the clue is to realize that it may be an anagram. This is hinted at by the misspelling of 'repositories'.

The next step is to figure out what to anagram. If you tried just to anagram 'Tackle repositorys', you probably didn't get many meaningful results. However, if you noticed that the whole line was called a clue, then you should include the word 'Hint' in your anagram.

A few tries at anagraming 'Hint: Tackle repositorys' yields:

    Crystal Pook is Thirteen.

This is further supported by a clue hidden in the book, A Treasures Trove, which says 'There are thirteen'. (I will not tell you where this clue is hidden for now.)

So, yes, there is a 13th Crystal Pook jewel and it is made from a single hand carved piece of rock crystal with gold and enamel wings.

Crystal Pook is kept at Jewelry Designs and does not travel with the jewels to the various venues because his crystal tails is too fragile and could break during transit.

    Happy hunting!
    Mike Stadther"

Oh don't give me credit Sue! We should go back and find out who did first post that solution (it wasn't me!!) ....

And Sue, I think you should publish your solution to just the "tackle repositorys" part .... Stadther didn't think you could get much interesting, but you sure found a good one!

shoot, i was at work anagrammed "tackle repositorys" the day before I bought the book, and I was convinced that i would have to get the book and "look cypress attire" to see what was hidden in a tree's clothes. :P

It all anagrams and gives us something we already knew:

    HINT: TACKLE REPOSITORYS

    CRYSTAL POOK IS THIRTEEN

I'm embarrassed to post this, but it seemed so good at the time! I anagrammed HINT: TACKLE REPOSITORYS to LOOK IN THE CITY PRESS: ART. I had been thinking about how Kit Williams had put a clue about Masquerade in the newspaper, and I thought MS was doing the same thing. This was during the time that MS had also posted on this site that the book had become a New York Times bestseller and to "look in this Sunday's paper".

I was so sure there was going to be a great clue there! We had a huge snowstorm that Sunday and I couldn't get out for a paper, but on Monday I sat on the floor of the library looking at everything in the Art section... nothing.

Oh well, it was worth a try!

Vincir was also the first to discover (on the Q4T forum) that MYMRLYVR translates to THIRTEEN, using the Vigenere cipher, with 'TREASURE' as the keyword. Smart guy! I wish he'd post here more often!

Hehe ... you're giving me more credit than I was do. I just said "Crystal Pook is Thirteen" and "Look in me." :P

As to posting more, I'm in my senior year of college and trying not to overextend myself too much with class, work, life, WoW, and Cyber Rally already - almost failing there ... hehee.
