Interesting, is this more proof that we should be using the Appendix as part of the puzzle?

Absolutely NOT. I specifically asked him about this at his meet and greet yesterday in Springfield, IL. The clues are in the story; the story ends with page 101 (page 102 first sentence "so the story ends"). He read that quote in fact.
Over 1,000 miles travelled in search of 1 token.

Tokens found: zero. (no, I don't expect I'll have to edit this)

    Currently working on: Firefly, beetle.

    Default Appendix

<The clues are in the story; the story ends with page 101 (page 102 first sentence "so the story ends"). He read that quote in fact.>

So Stadther actually said that it ends on p102? I'm just confused because why would there be this extra period after the token. Maybe someone needs to ask if that is a misprint?

I still believe that the Jewel descriptions and the token page could possible yield clues.

Unless Ms was clear as day, and in no uncertain terms stated that there are no clues past 102. You know how some people answer somewhat ambigious, the person listening might take it differently that someone else.

Oh, and why are some jewels photographed in black, some white, then some in "nature" backgrounds. Why not just all the same?

There is also some corrections to the Companion Puzzle Book posted.

Seems to me that there are a TON more than just these two, but whaaatever.

    1. P. 41 and P. 42 - The puzzle numbered 11 continues on pages 41 and 42.

    2. P. 42 - Captain Kidd was born in Greenock, Scotland, not Grenock as listed.

Many errors and flaws are generated in the process of printing books and other publications. These misprints are due to typesetting errors, printing press errors, templates, film, photography, blah, blab, blah. Unfortunately, many times proof-reading does not catch all the flaws and errors before a book or publication gets to the store.

The best thing we can do, is request confirmation as to, whether or not, some glaring mistake is intended, and stop speculating misleading clues. It only confuses us treasure hunters, and we spend too much time and energy going down the wrong path.

Please don't take my comments as criticism, -they're not! I believe every possible clue should be considered, and it's up to all of us to ferret out the truth. I really appreciate Mike giving us confirmation that the clues or in "the story", so that's where I'm looking.

You people are amazingly intelligent, so I expect someone from this forum will find a token. Good luck to all, and when I find something that is a possible clue, or solution, I'll post it in the appropriate topic.

    Patsy,

The corrections I posted come directly from MS on his website. Just FYI.

mackadoo - I was not referring to the corrections you had posted, because I already thought you had checked them with MS. I was trying to clarify questions from some other posts that may not have been addressed, or were causing confusion for some.

I failed to make clear that my statements were more general than specific in regard to any particular errata. I really just wanted to point out that "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar" and that we should not take errors to be mean that MS intentionally tried to give us a clue.

How are you doing on your search for tokens? Do you feel like you've discovered anything that gets you any closer to fing one? I sure hope one of us has some luck. I keep hoping I'll wake up in the middle of the night and realize I have the answer.

If I find one, I think I'll throw a big party and invite eveybody on this forum to come and share the trill.
