Default NEWS - NEW Clues from Mike 12/07/2009

    Hello folks,

I spoke with Mike today, more or less just as a friend to wish him well and a Happy Holiday season. We all know about the Bankruptcy and I think all who read this and take it a step further are those of us that found ourselves enjoying SOAD for many reasons other than to win a ring.

For all who want another few clues, Mike has provided me with a few today to pass along.
I am going to paste them exactly as they were provided to me. I wish everyone the best of luck that is still (as am I) trying to figure out how close or far I ever was....

Here are the clues from Mike, the first item 1 and 2 came together and then a 3rd clue came and it was the quote below from the book, and again, cut and pasted exactly as I received them. Mike asked that I pass these on to all who would like to have them, so here you are.
It has been a while that I have spoken to many of you and I hope you are all well.
    Again here are the clues.

    Mike said the following:

    ----------------------------------------------

im still not sure how to disclose the clues. but i can go on record in saying:

    1. "Hest is English".
    2. any child who can read, can read Hest.

    one more offical clue...

"The symbols in the book swirled and coalesced in his mind, combined and formed anew, and gradually, he understood them."-- P 103

    -----------------------------------------------

Mike did not have the ---- dashes I put those in to separate the quotes from mike and I added nothing, no punctuation, no spaces, please see what you can do with these.

and Digitizer if you are still out there reading any of these, drop me a note if you will.

and Keep me in the loop.

    Good Luck,

    LordRhast

One thing that I've struggled with since the beginning is whether to use a 26 letter alphabet or a 27 letter alphabet (including "AE").

Maybe this new clue # 1 is telling us to use 26?

These clues are for SOTAD right, not DAR?

So the symbols do get converted into english. Possibly not using maths.
Maybe we should literally swirl them (turn upside down) and then coalesce (overlay somehow).
Then just read off in English. It seems as if even a code of symbols isn't necessary, just the ability to read English.

If only i still had my scans.

Looking at the Hest again, I can imagine how gutted MS must have been that all his puzzle-setting-brilliance was never revealed. There must be 100 clues there in English, waiting to be combed over.

Still, it's his fault for making such an unpopular puzzle.

    It wasn't always unpopular.

I check in every once is a while and saw this post about possible new "clues". And now that I see the "clues", I am disappointed in myself that I did not see this before. I had to ask the wife where the bok was since she put it away long ago, just to see if what I thought the "clues" represented was there. I think I understand what should be done, but am fed up with this hunt. So while I "think" I know what should be done,I am still not positive, I will wait a day or two to see if others come with the same conclusion. A clue as to what I am thinking, I do not claim to know what to do. So be it, it be so.

    Peace to all.

I no longer care anything about this puzzle. I hope it gets solved and that it then disappears.

Fine, no more being cryptic, but I do have one thing to say. This hunt has been over for quite a while now and only a few have give up theories they had or clues they had that were not all ready out there. Kinda disappointing and sad. Anyway, heres what I am thinking:
My clue: I do not "claiM" and "so be it, it be so" Was the word "Malic" an annagram for claim...claim Hest? So the handwriting is a Hest language also. Page 15 says this I feel. I had found long ago that there was a line going across the grow/mold page. I folded it on that line and held it up to a strong light and saw that the 3 intersecting handwritten notes formed a star in the midst of the jumble of lines. This is not what I think you do, but it is close.
If you look at the page that has the definitions of the eclipse and light spells, there's the handwritten note "We make work good" I think there is 1 "M" in this statement, but it is the "w" in work. The "G" is tell us to swirl parts of the letters. I think if the letter has extending lines thru or dont touch, that is not the letter and needs to be broken up. In this statement, I think the only real letters are the "M from Work", the "K in maKe" the "G from wE" and the "A in gooD" The O's could be also. Finally, the "K" in work, upside down, I feel is a "Y" with a line that needs to swirled. So you may need to take all the handwritings and they may have to intermingle some with others. You may also need to use a mirror, who knows. Also, the double O in good could be the infinity symbol.
I put it out there and i am probably wrong, but at least I am sharing.

Yes, i wouldn't recommend spending any energy on these new clues. Hopefully he'll give out some proper easy ones and we can see how stupid we all were back in the day.
