    The grille, to my knowledge, does not work as a "turning grille".

    I have made a couple of templates of the "grille" -- one the size of the grid on pg. 86, the other sized to the grid on pg. 16 but with the holes cut to the same configuration as the one on pg. 86. For one thing, there should be NO overlap. Every time you turn a grille cipher, what you should see each time, each of four 90 degree turns, is a new set of single characters.

    The pg. 86 grid simply doesn't work to decode a turning grille cipher. My take, anyway.

    I would like to hear from somebody else who has actually TRIED the concept out, and what their findings were.

    renart, I did uptake on your cue re: the four commas and created a letter string from the pangram on pg. 28 from every fourth letter....

    might as well do somethin' - ya never know until you try

    this is what I got

    ran it thru some codebreaking aplets,,,,and,,,,got zilch however
