    Default Chapter 13.5 Sudoku

I'm not really bothering with the hunt now but was looking for a puzzle to work on and thought I'd have a go at the 3D Sudoku.

I think I understand the logic behind completing it but what I don't understand are the following:

    - What's with the 0 in the middle square of the front face?
    - Why are there 9 variations of the front, side and top faces when only the first one of each represents what's shown on the 3D picture?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

The "0" is not used in solving the 3D Sudoku, it can be ignored.

Each of the nine views represents a slice. For example, the first front view is the vertical slice that you would see looking at the front, the second view is the vertical slice behind the the first, and so on until all nine slices are stacked.
