    Default The Tavenier Stones

    Hi,

The Tavenier Stones is a new (online) armchair treasure hunt based on the newly published book of the same name.

Hidden somewhere on the web is an image of a diamond. The first person to find it wins a one carat stone.

Treasure Hunt Site: The Tavernier Stones by Stephen Parrish | Home

    Enjoy

    This looks cool
Has the book not been published yet? On amazon it says May 2010 but there are used books for sale?

    Hi mlssry,

I was a little baffled by that too, but the books are in the UK, at least some of the sellers in the Amazon Market Place say they have new ones in stock. Perhaps May 2010 was the anticipated publication date and they managed to get it out a couple of weeks early?

I have one on order and by all accounts it should be here within 4 working days.

I am going to order my book today. I was looking at the puzzles on the site and I think I'll start playing around with them.
I've been to the church in the picture on the Faq page.....so now my interest has peaked even more

I spoke to Stephen Parrish and he said that depending on how much interest the book generates he may increase the size of the diamond.
Any other twelevers going to get it?

I'm new as of today, so can't readily be considered a twelever, but I heard of the book through here, have bought it, and am slowly trying to fit it in. Have made no progress on anything.

I am staying away from hunts that rely heavily on "interest."

Best of luck and happy hunting.

So far it is a good read, I am only a couple of chapters in however.

    Hi Goatlady & Morbus
I haven't recieved my book yet so I haven't done anything but look at the puzzles on the site. The hieroglyphs are letters but spell nothing. The pigpen code also spells nothing (right side up) that I can see....must be more to both of them. I'd love to work together here on the puzzles when I get my book.

    Default puzzles

I finished reading the book. The pig pen code is in the book. Before I read the book I used the pigpen code, turning the puzzle all four ways. What a chore. Anyway there are several pigpen variations on line. The one in the book was a little different then the ones I first used. Anyway after you use the pigpen code then you have to decode it further. That is what I am working on now. The other puzzles are all mentioned in the book. It was a pretty good story. I liked it because I am familiar with a lot of the terms used in the book, I am an old rock collector.
