Well, I have a reasonable explanation for almost everything else, but this one stumps me.

To be specific, I am talking about the gemstones on puzzle page three, at the top. The stones are copies of the drawings made by Tavernier himself, of the Great Mogol and Great Table diamonds. BTW, they are mirror-image of the actual drawings.

If you take the pattern as dots and dashes in International Morse Code, from top down, it spells "IDLE". I tried American Morse, but that does not make an actual word.

Others have brought up the objection that Morse Code comes from the 19th century, where all the other codes we have encountered were know in the time of "Cellarius".

So what is it? We know that some things are clues to the ultimate solution ( e.g. SATOR square ), but what does IDLE tell us?
