    North Road in May

There’s one lift, loft and leap of newly minted leaf
That pries wide skull’s cup to pour in light.
Trees’ bones sing to strings beyond the frets of grief
While life returns, churns green, burns stone walls bright
As pyres. I’ll pluck my grace from the chants that rise
In blood’s thin sap for five rich minutes like that moment’s rose.

Sun and western sea may be at my back, but even shaded eyes
Open wise to an arch that only sky sees and only branch knows.

    like klein’s bottle, woman

drinks all the seas. is drunk by children’s earths.
clasps a good hand to the last dropped moon.
a lupine moan can make her doorway’s dixie pop
while even lost wood remembers riding
    crops, red-hooded seed.

but man, on mobius’ road, rounds, runs blind,
an ant that dances on the carpentered heels
of its own unarched feet. fleet,
we seek forever in the missing link
    where parallels rails thwack and
    twist us past meeting
    the brinks of death.

    solely my soles now wave
    at your projective weave:
    oh,
    your glossy infinities,
    oh,
    your polished hellos
    your glassy goodbyes,
    so gleaming.

    the henwraith vent

    shrill and shriveled sniveler,
    unshriven in your hillybillied barrow,
clamped to rubbish like a wringing wretch,
driven to beshrew and shrink all wealth,
drab-pawed batterdam, retching gram of whine,
unhidden in your wracked martyr’s shawl,
your lackaday pooreyed palm is crossed
by witch-tongued shivs and gypsy’s asps
your bullying giant’s a trojan hobbyhorse,
    your bloodcursed cripplejaw’s a hellmouth.

misanthropic caster cribbing in self-suffered caul
and ragtag rig and hangdog scaffold
and clubfoot soul and dinning deathwhinny,
    yes, you
    drone on,
    drudge on,
    drag on.

    The phurba

Fog rolls in like rum in sailor brains.
The phurba pins my last tree’s sleep.
The soul may wake or wail and stare
Into its pitch, flail, flare against mirror,
Rail at the snake candled in its marrow.

Tomorrow too will hurt, I know.
    We’ve staked a wild thing
    To the axis mundi now.
So each even night gets shakes.
May more fog bless the wound,
Unwind a butcher's lamb, dress nudes.

why google won’t find the poem you can’t remember

one pitches way past quick pitched grief.
two can’t find with little feline foggy feet.
three wakes fast and takes its waking swell.
four needs no red wheelbarrow to dig up hell.
five zings the dead body electric from all graves.
six grieves no sickened, deceased mouse.
seven searches roads only weighted, taken.
    eight wine-darkens no siren's sea;
    nine breaks all arrows off too clean;
ten seeks only seeing what is seen.

a dyslexic insomniac finds his epiphany at the ritz in oak bluffs

    too tired now, my brother,
    to care if it was
    Billy Collins
    the woman quoted, saying:
where will this poetic shite end if not
with all things compared to all?

    instead,
    watching two dogs
    (gods of odd goods)
    kiss
    at the ritz:

    a 13-month american bulldog named
    crazy girl
    and a blue tick.

mouths like everything they can be compared to:
    crocodiles that need no god.

    light falls
    on yr mourning milady
    yr dorothy's gone just now
    i saw her too
    compared to everything

    then it was summer:

    she danced once more sure
    with langston hughes
at a different ritz in nyc
    putting on that ritz

    then it was summer:
    so briefly,
i had to go somewhere sleeping.
    i had to.

How to Care for a Donkey (found poetry):

    special farm animals
    always delight people

    sweet faces,
    braying calls
    gentle,
    intelligent

    contemplative,
    donkeys don’t deserve

    Steps:

    1
    warmer weather.
do not like wind or rain and will seek shelter from both.

    rain seeps
    makes life unbearable.

    2
    misguided attempts to push

    3
    see whether it has frozen over;
you’ll need to clear the ice away

    4
    good grazing
    grounds
    love

    5
    the odd
    cookie is okay

    8
a donkey will be content with your companionship if you attend

    11
    annually,
    wearing down and abscesses, etc.
teeth are likely to be more of an issue.

    Tips:

    Learn more about donkeys.
You can never know too much about your companion animal.

    on weekends
    serve as partners
    calm them down
    through their initial loneliness

    Warnings:

Don’t let anyone mishandle a donkey.
Donkeys are gentle creatures; never pull their ears or try to hurt them in any way.
If you have a rescued donkey, you will need to put in a lot of time and effort to restore its trust; often such donkeys have been mistreated and are nervous, shy and afraid.
As this is not their normal nature, it is really pitiful to see and should you take up this challenge, seek assistance from a local donkey organization.
Don’t let the farrier make a donkey lay down for hoof-care; this upsets the donkey and is

    unnecessary.

    Default wasque

    you walk far and
    how remote waves
    or stars are far
    and yet you’re worried
    about diarrhea.

    bad sushi?
    last night?

    swans land.
    no one says your name.

    it’s all pre-season.
    the porta-johns aren’t there.

    you trespass.
    forgive trespass.

    for.

    give.
